Abstract
A novel azobenzene functionalized hydroxy phthalocyanine indium was successfully synthesized and named 1,9,17, 25- tetrahydroxy-2,10,18,26-tetraphenyldiazenyl phthalocyanine indium (Azo-InPc-OH). It was characterized using FT-IR, 1 H NMR and UV-Vis. Compared with the hydroxy phthalocyanine indium without azobenzene, Azo-InPc-OH had better solubility. The third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of Azo-InPc-OH have been tested by the Z-scan technique. Azo-InPc-OH obtained excellent NLO performance exhibiting nonlinear absorption coefficient (βeff) of 1.39×10−11 m/W.
