Abstract
The design of high frequency lasers involves three issues. These are: a) Design and choice of structures with low parasitics. b) Low parasitics packaging techniques. c) Maximized intrinsic frequency response. The first two issues have been discussed at length in the literatures. We will concentrate on the third issue regarding the technique for maximizing the intrinsic frequency response and the possible bandwith limitation due to excessive damping cause by nonlinear gain.
