In order to reduce the communication load in game-play video distribution, a method to reduce the sharpness of video images excluding the viewer’s region of interest is proposed. The experimental results indicated that our method maintains the visibility of character details without degrading the structural similarity index measure compared to low-resolution videos. Consequently, this approach provided positive results in subjective assessments.
