Abstract
A mid-infrared BaGa4Se7 (BGSe) optical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped by a 1064 nm laser with a repetition frequency of 1 kHz was demonstrated. The maximum output power at the wavelength of 6.48 μm was 40.2 mW with a pulse width of 6.45 ns, corresponding to the peak power of 6.23 kW. The characteristics of MIR tuning for BGSe-OPO were investigated using temperature and angle tuning methods. A tunable output in the 6.48-6.89 μm range was obtained. The high-repetition-rate MIR lasers within the 6-7 µm range provide a kind of new source for a variety of practical applications.
