Abstract
A physical optics code provides the optical designer a means to develop many types of systems which can not be treated properly by geometrical optics. Physical optics must consider a much broader range of effects and components and computational times are longer but the sophistication of physical optics software is now comparable to that of geometrical optics programs and allow the optical designer to work on systems that go beyond " classical" geometrical optics. 1.
