Abstract
The ablation of cornea by pulsed 193-nm excimer laser radiation has been studied for individual laser pulses by real-time noncontact methods. The ablation event is consistent on a pulse-to-pulse basis, indicating no cumulative photochemical modification of the tissue. However, dynamic optical events occur within each laser pulse which may significantly impact the radiation transport process.
