Abstract
Automatic vehicle classification (AVC) is the important prerequisite for automatic charging and administering system. In this paper, a new AVC system based on infrared plane detecting technique is introduced, and in order to dispose the data gathered by the infrared detecting system to classify the vehicle, fuzzy pattern recognition technique is used. By this technique, vehicles difficult to be classified by usual method can be classified correctly.
