Abstract
The method of detecting corrosion with a new photothermal electrochemical (PE) method that is based on the photothermal phenomenon, which can be effectively used to detect conductive surface defects in electrolyte solution, was applied to detect and image corrosions on a metal surface. PE images of surface corrosion on metal specimens were compared with images obtained by conventional PA microscopy. The basic characteristics of PE imaging device was studied on the dependence of electrolyte temperature, laser power and modulation frequency.
