Abstract
The change of desertification and its driving mechanism in Mu-Us region in the past 20 years were analyzed by means of using Landsat images in three different periods and the data of meteorology. The results showed that in the past 20 years, the desertification in Mu-Us sandy land had decreased and the cover of vegetation had increased correspondingly. The change of NDVI in Mu-Us sandy land in the past 20 years demonstrated the results of vegetation coverage increasing. The driving mechanism analysis showed that rainfall and temperature are the key factors of meteorology and the increasing of forest and farmland demonstrated the influence of man-made factor.
