Abstract
The theoretical model of the photoacoustic effect in stressed solids with application to analysis to the photoacoustic signal behavior near vertical crack tips is developed. Photoacoustic images for Vickers indentation zones in ceramics and metals are presented. It is demonstrated the influence of the given external mechanical stresses on the photoacoustic images of Vickers indentations both for ceramics and metals. The influence of near surface technological stresses on the photoacoustic images of Vickers indentations in ceramics is also demonstrated. The comparison of the obtained experimental results with the available theoretical models of the photoacoustic effect in stressed materials is made.
