Abstract
Metallodielectric photonic crystals (MDPC) were fabricated by the combination of direct laser writing technique, which was used to prepare initial dielectric templates, and by subsequent metalization of the templates using electroless coating technique. The obtained MDPC structures have adequate structural quality, and exhibit spectral signatures of photonic bands consistent with theoretical expectations. The fabrication process is simple but reliable, and can deliver MDPC structures suitable for operation in the infrared and terahertz spectral ranges.
