Abstract

Laser produced plasmas have been extensively used as suitable media for soft x-ray lasers. Recently, amplified spontaneous emission at the 130-200 Å range has been observed in experiments involving laser-produced plasmas.1-3 Gain coefficients of about 5^-6 cm-1 were measured on 2s²2p53p - 2s²2p53s transitions in neon-like selenium, yttrium and molybdenum.
