Abstract
A laser scanning system has been described for measurement of optical fibre diameter in course of manufacturing. The principle of operation of the system is based on measurement of time of shading of scanning laser beam by the measured fibre. The criteria have been presented of selection of system optical parameters and their influence has been considered on laser beam shape in measurement space. Metrological properties have been discussed and analysis of systematic and random errors of fibre diameter measurement has been performed.
