Abstract
Abstract: This study explores the potential of NDE on quantitative enhancement of NDE system reliability. Further, impact of enhanced system reliability on the potential life revision for aero-engines are also calculated. Eddy current inspection data with empirical â vs a relation obtained from deterministic experimental methods was considered. By a systematic parametric variation in slope of â vs a (indicating varying NDE system reliability), modified POD curves are generated. Further, the parametric variation in slope is correlated with the POD curve shape to identify the percentage enhancement in system reliability. Moreover, enhancement in remaining life with an enhancement of NDE system reliability is calculated to understand its impact. Keywords: NDE 4.0, Reliability, POD, ECT, Damage Tolerance, Aero-engines
