Abstract
A new indirect ophthalmoscope has been developed that combines a viewing lens and a compact illumination system in a small, prealigned, easy-to-use package. Undesirable back reflections are eliminated by admitting the illumination behind the viewing lens via beamsplitter, and by using polarized light. The conditions for stereoscopic viewing are discussed.
