Kai has received his PhD at the National University of Ireland, Galway investigating signal processing and optical design of multiple reference optical coherence tomography (MR-OCT). He has 5 years of industrial experience in software development with Java, studied Electrical Engineering in Germany at the TU Chemnitz, and Physics and Instrumentation at the GMIT, Galway, Ireland. He has a keen interest in different programming languages including C/C++, Python, Elisp and has also substantial experience with LabView and MATLAB. His research interests are algorithmic programming, hardware interfacing, signal and image processing, and the optimization of optical system designs.
Currently, he is working at Compact Imaging Inc. Limerick, Ireland as an Application Engineer investigating and implementing different applications for MR-OCT and conventional OCT systems.
Kai has been awarded the SPIE Travel Scholarship and the SFI poster price 2016 during the Advanced Laser Technologies Conference 2016, Galway, Ireland.
