We delve into applying the “Urdhva Tiryagbhyam” Vedic mathematics sutra, or “Vertically and Crosswise,” to develop a 2-bit multiplier tailored for binary integers. Originating from ancient Indian mathematical traditions, this sutra historically expedited the multiplication of decimal numbers. To implement our proposed circuit, we employ four microring modulators designed by the electroabsorption method and scrutinize the impact of various variables on its on–off logic. The study emphasizes the significance of Vedic mathematics sutras in optimizing binary multiplication operations within the optical domain. To substantiate the optical output results, we have measured the extinction ratio, which consistently exceeds at least 2.9 dB for each operation. By integrating traditional mathematical principles with contemporary technologies, we aim to streamline and accelerate binary multiplication processes, contributing to advancements in digital circuit design and computation.
