Area of Expertise:
nanophotonics , optics of microcavities , optics of semiconductor nanostructures , microscopy , hybrid materials , surface enhanced effects
Profile Summary

Main research areas: nano-photonics with particular emphasis on the optics of nanosize semiconductor structures, application of quantum dots (nanocrystals) and metal nanoparticles as building blocks in metamaterials and biological application of quantum dots.

Particular interest in:

- Anti-Stokes luminescence in semiconductor quantum dots. This heat-consuming photon energy up-conversion process has great potential for application in optical cooling devices.
- Whispering-gallery mode cavities integrated with organic or inorganic nanostructures.

More than 100 publications in journals, book chapters and peer reviewed conference proceedings.

Specialties

- Nanophotonics
- Optics of semiconductor nanorystals (quantum dots).
- Optics of microcavities, photonic molecules and nanojets.
- Confocal, fluorescence lifetime - and scanning near-field imaging using quantum dots
- Raman spectroscopy of quantum dots
- Photon correlation spectroscopy with quantum dots and quantum dot nanostructures
- Optical switching with quantum dots
- Interaction of quantum dots with plasmonic nanostructures
