Micro-blog websites are increasingly attracting the attention of academic and industry researchers. Its market value
has been widely concerned and the exploration of its monetization model has entered a substantial stage. In this paper,
we describe the history of Micro-blog and propose a comprehensive classification. We then discuss key characteristics
based on existing websites mainly in China. A monetization model is concluded according to different features of microblog
and the Hype Cycle theory[1]. The paper can be used for future academic research or making strategies for Microblog
website practitioners.
